Dr. Julia Valle, DDS
For Dr. Julia Valle, dentistry has been a lifelong passion. Growing up in El Salvador, she often accompanied her mother, who was a nurse, to the hospital and became fascinated with healthcare from an early age. Dentistry captured her interest as a child, and she never changed her mind about the career she wanted to pursue.
Dr. Valle graduated from the University of El Salvador School of Dentistry in 1995. Before coming to the United States, she owned and operated two private dental practices in El Salvador. After moving to the United States, she completed an International Dental Program to obtain her U.S. dental licensure. She later practiced throughout California, including in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Clovis, and Fresno. Although she valued those experiences, she knew that she ultimately wanted to build her practice in a smaller, close-knit community.
She found that community in Lindsay.
Dr. Valle was drawn to Lindsay because its strong sense of family reminded her of the community where she grew up in El Salvador. For more than a decade, she has been proud to call Lindsay Family Dental home and to care for the families who make up this community. Many of the patients she first welcomed years ago continue to trust her with their care today, and one of the greatest privileges of her career has been watching families grow and having the opportunity to care for multiple generations.
Dr. Valle is known for her patience, compassion, and the time she takes with each patient. She believes patients deserve to understand their dental health and treatment, and she takes the time to listen to their concerns, answer their questions, and thoroughly explain their options. She especially values helping patients who have been afraid of the dentist feel comfortable and cared for. Above all, she genuinely loves being a dentist and developing lasting relationships with the families she treats.
Lindsay Family Dental has also become a family practice in the truest sense. One of the greatest joys of Dr. Valle’s career has been having the opportunity to practice alongside her son, Dr. Gerardo Zelaya, while continuing to serve the community that has meant so much to her for more than 10 years.
Family and faith are at the center of Dr. Valle’s life. When she isn’t caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, attending church, and taking road trips together.
Dr. Gerardo N. Zelaya Valle, DDS
For Dr. Gerardo Zelaya, dentistry is much more than a profession—it is something he has been passionate about for as long as he can remember. Although there were moments along the way when he considered other paths, dentistry always seemed to find its way back into his life. Once he had the opportunity to pursue it fully, he knew he had found what he was meant to do.
Dr. Zelaya graduated from Fresno State in 2018 before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2024. Shortly after graduation, he returned to California, completed his board examinations, and became licensed to practice dentistry in the state. Having grown up speaking both English and Spanish and having spent several years living abroad, he values the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
His connection to Lindsay Family Dental began years before becoming a dentist. Dr. Zelaya worked at the practice on and off before leaving for dental school, giving him the opportunity to experience the office from a different perspective. Those years helped shape his ideas about patient care and ultimately strengthened his desire to return and contribute to the practice and community.
Today, Dr. Zelaya is particularly passionate about helping patients who are fearful or anxious about dental treatment. He believes dental anxiety is different for every patient and that good care begins with listening and understanding exactly what someone is afraid of. His approach combines patience, reassurance, gentle treatment, and a calm environment so patients feel heard and in control of their care.
This philosophy is especially important to him in surgical dentistry, one of his greatest clinical interests. Because procedures such as dental extractions are often among the most feared treatments in dentistry, Dr. Zelaya finds it especially rewarding to transform an experience a patient has been dreading into one that feels calm and manageable. Few things make him happier than finishing a procedure and hearing a surprised patient ask, “That was it?”
Dr. Zelaya believes becoming a better dentist is a lifelong pursuit and regularly pursues advanced training in surgical dentistry, wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, root canal treatment, and advanced diagnostic technology. He also travels annually to Guatemala, where he volunteers his time providing dental extractions to communities in need. His goal is to continually expand his skills so that families at Lindsay Family Dental can receive more of the care they need from people they already know and trust.
One of the most meaningful parts of Dr. Zelaya’s career is practicing alongside his mother, Dr. Julia Valle. He is proud to carry forward the practice she built while continuing to expand upon her vision for Lindsay Family Dental and the community it has served for more than a decade.
Outside the office, Dr. Zelaya enjoys spending time with his wife and family. A former varsity football player, fitness remains an important part of his life, and he enjoys weight training and recreational bodybuilding. He is also an avid chess player and enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, and continuing to expand his knowledge of dentistry.
